Deputy Project Engineering Manager

Overview

Support the JV Project Manager in the day to day direction of the detailed engineering execution performed by the JV in Kuala Lumpur, and act as the single point of accountability for engineering progress, resourcing and issue escalation across all Area Engineers.

Scope of work

Deputise for the Project Manager on all engineering execution matters and chair the internal weekly engineering progress reviews.

Own the integrated engineering schedule for the JV scope and challenge the discipline Leads where planned start dates or predecessor inputs are not being met.

Consolidate area level progress into a single project view and identify, in advance, deliverables that will not meet their planned issue date, together with the root cause.

Arbitrate interface and priority conflicts between Area Engineers and discipline Leads, and escalate to the Project Manager only what cannot be resolved at working level.

Review and endorse manpower forecasts, mobilisation requests and replacement requests before submission to the JV.

Ensure the engineering execution complies with the Project Execution Plan, the applicable Company specifications and the document management procedures in force.

Support the transfer of scope back from the Engineering Lead to the JV at the agreed progress milestone, including the reintegration of transferred coordinators.

Takes ownership of an answer rather than forwarding the question. Goes to the source, obtains the information and responds.

Key requirements

• Degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Process, Structural, Electrical or equivalent).
• Minimum 15 years in oil and gas detailed engineering, of which at least 5 years in a project management or deputy project management role.
• Proven track record on at least one FPSO or floating production unit topsides detailed engineering project, from FEED handover through to issue for construction.
• Demonstrated experience managing multi party execution, including a local execution centre working under an international engineering lead.
• Working knowledge of major international operator specifications and of vendor package integration.
